Display one automatic bar without adding a shortcode to every page.
Before you start
Have a published, enabled ticker with content. Start with a page where you can verify the layout. You need permission to edit tickers. Open TickerPress → Tickers, then Edit the ticker. For public output, the ticker must be published, enabled, and contain enabled content that resolves to at least one item.
Steps
- Open Placement and turn on Enable automatic placement.
- Set Location to Top of page or Bottom of page.
- Set Position behavior to Fixed to viewport to keep the bar visible while scrolling, or Normal page flow to place it at the document edge.
- For a fixed bar, leave Reserve page space for fixed ticker on to avoid covering content. Turn it off only when an overlay is intended.
- Under Display conditions, ensure an Include rule matches the page; Everywhere is the sitewide option. Save with Update.
- Open a matching page, scroll, and check both logged-in and logged-out layouts.
Expected result
The bar appears at the chosen edge on eligible pages. Fixed top bars account for the WordPress admin toolbar. An empty ticker does not reserve visible space.
Troubleshooting and limits
If nothing appears, check publication, enabled state, content, include/exclude rules, and any Pro schedule/device restrictions. Clearing all include rules prevents automatic output. Only the last eligible ticker in the implementation’s ID-ascending loop wins at each automatic position; bars do not stack. An empty winner does not fall back to an earlier ticker. There is no visitor dismiss button.
