Recheck sourced content while a visitor keeps the page open.
Before you start
Activate compatible Free and Pro. Add and enable WordPress posts, WordPress content, RSS feed, or WooCommerce products. A manual-only ticker does not expose this workflow. You need permission to edit tickers. Open TickerPress → Tickers, then Edit the ticker. For public output, the ticker must be published, enabled, and contain enabled content that resolves to at least one item.
Steps
- Open Content → Content refresh and enable Live refresh.
- Choose Refresh interval: Every minute, Every 5 minutes, Every 15 minutes, Every 30 minutes, or Every hour.
- Select Update and open the ticker’s public page.
- Change a matching source item in another tab. Leave the public page open through a refresh interval and an animation boundary.
- Confirm that sourced items update without reloading the page. If nothing changes, verify the source result and caching before shortening the interval.
Expected result
The browser polls cached ticker content. Changed content is normally staged until an animation boundary; single-item or nonmoving cases use fallback timing. An initially empty live ticker can keep polling invisibly without reserving bar space.
Troubleshooting and limits
The interval is a check frequency, not a guarantee of immediate upstream freshness. Feed and ticker caches can delay new results. TickerPress → Settings → Clear cached ticker content clears TickerPress caches, not page/CDN caches. A failed browser request keeps the last valid displayed ticker; a successfully resolved feed failure can instead remove that source’s items. Manual content is not an automatic external source. Live refresh does not reschedule or newly place a bar excluded at page generation.
