How to Install and Activate TickerPress

Would you like to add a news ticker or announcement bar to your WordPress site? This guide shows you how to install TickerPress, activate it, and open the dashboard for the first time.

Installing TickerPress

Get the TickerPress plugin zip from emberwp.com/plugins/tickerpress.

  1. Log in at /wp-admin.
  2. Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin.
  3. Click Upload Plugin, choose the tickerpress zip, then click Install Now.

You can also copy the tickerpress folder into wp-content/plugins/ with SFTP or your host's file manager, then activate it below.

Activating the plugin

  1. Click Activate Plugin, or go to Plugins and click Activate under TickerPress.
  2. Open TickerPress in the admin sidebar (megaphone icon).

There is no setup wizard. Activation registers the plugin and runs first-install setup.

What you see after activation

The dashboard opens on the Tickers tab. You will also see Settings, and Free vs Pro when Pro is not active.

If the site has no ticker posts yet, TickerPress creates one published, enabled Welcome ticker with three sample Simple text messages. Setup runs once—it will not duplicate on reactivation or on sites that already have tickers.

Automatic top/bottom placement is off by default on that starter, so open Welcome ticker from the list when you are ready to place or customize it.

Optional: installing TickerPress Pro

TickerPress Pro is a separate add-on. Free TickerPress must be installed and active first.

  1. Install and activate free TickerPress.
  2. Upload and activate the TickerPress Pro zip the same way.
  3. Complete any Freemius license or account prompts for Pro updates. Installed Pro features keep working if a license later expires.

If free TickerPress is missing or older than 0.1.0, Pro shows an admin notice until the requirement is met.

That's it. Activate TickerPress, open the TickerPress menu, then edit Welcome ticker or create a new one from the Tickers tab.
