Would you like to create a new ticker from scratch? This guide walks you through opening the editor, naming the ticker, and publishing so you can add content next.
- Open the Tickers dashboard
- Start a new ticker
- Name and publish
- What you see in the editor
- Keep the ticker enabled
Open the Tickers dashboard
- Log in at
/wp-admin. - Click TickerPress in the admin sidebar.
- Stay on the Tickers tab (it opens by default).
If this is a fresh install, you may already see Welcome ticker. You can edit that starter or create a new one.
Start a new ticker
- Click Create ticker in the dashboard header.
- WordPress opens the ticker editor (Add New Ticker).
The link goes to the ticker post type editor. There is no separate wizard.
Name and publish
- Enter a title in the title field at the top (for example, “Homepage news”).
- Review the live preview and option tabs below the title.
- Click Publish in the WordPress publish box.
New tickers start with default design and animation settings and an empty content list. They are enabled by default in configuration. A ticker must be published and enabled before it can appear on the front end.
What you see in the editor
Above the option panels you will see:
- Choose a preset — optional starter looks (content, design, and animation)
- A sticky Ticker preview that updates as you edit
Then four tabs:
- Content — label, messages, posts, and other items
- Design — colors, separators, typography, layout
- Animation — continuous scroll, slide, or fade
- Placement — automatic top/bottom and manual shortcode/block/Elementor notes
Save with Publish or Update. Options are stored with the ticker post when you save.
Keep the ticker enabled
From TickerPress → Tickers, each row shows status and actions:
- Enable / Disable — disabled tickers do not render anywhere (automatic or manual)
- Edit, Duplicate, Export ticker, Copy shortcode, and Move to Trash
Re-enabling keeps all settings.
That's it. Create a ticker from Create ticker, give it a title, publish it, then add content on the Content tab.
