Add one message first, then combine manual entries and WordPress posts in the same ticker.
Before you start
TickerPress Free must be active. For sourced content, have at least one published post. You need permission to edit tickers. Open TickerPress → Tickers, then Edit the ticker. For public output, the ticker must be published, enabled, and contain enabled content that resolves to at least one item.
Steps
- Open Content. Under Ticker content, select Add content.
- Choose Simple text, select Add, and enter your message. Under Link, choose No link, Link the whole message, or Add a link after the message. Supply Link URL and, for a separate link, Link text.
- Add further entries as needed. WYSIWYG provides formatted text and links; HTML accepts sanitized markup; Shortcode accepts another plugin’s shortcode. Keep that plugin active.
- To show posts, add WordPress posts. Set Selection to Automatic query, then choose Maximum items, Order, and Skip first items. Optional Categories and Tags narrow the query. Alternatively choose Handpick entries and use Search and select entries.
- Optionally enable Show featured image, Show date, or Show term label for posts. Drag rows using Drag to reorder. Use Disable content to retain a row without displaying it.
- Review the preview, then Publish or Update. View a page where the ticker is placed.
Expected result
Manual entries appear in list order. A post source contributes its results consecutively at its position. Handpicked posts follow selection order; automatic count, offset, and taxonomy filters do not apply to that mode.
Troubleshooting and limits
Empty or disabled components contribute nothing. Overlapping sources can repeat a post; there is no cross-source deduplication. Free WordPress posts uses posts only; other eligible post types require Pro WordPress content. Nested TickerPress shortcodes are blocked. Open links in a new tab affects generated links, while HTML/WYSIWYG links retain their authored targets.
