Move a ticker’s configuration to another site or save a copy before editing.
Before you start
Have edit access on the source and destination sites. Activate compatible TickerPress versions; install Pro and source dependencies on the destination when the ticker uses them. You need permission to edit tickers. Open TickerPress → Tickers, then Edit the ticker. For public output, the ticker must be published, enabled, and contain enabled content that resolves to at least one item.
Steps
- In TickerPress → Tickers, open the ticker row’s additional actions and choose Export ticker.
- Confirm Export ticker in the dialog and save the JSON file.
- On the destination dashboard, choose Import ticker, select that JSON file, and choose Import as draft.
- Read any warnings and select Review imported ticker. Reselect content, taxonomy, media, and specific-page references that were cleared for a different site. Inspect copied URLs and source settings.
- Check content, styling, automatic placement, and Pro dependencies. Publish the imported draft only after review, then use its new shortcode or select it in a placement.
- Open the public page and confirm the imported ticker points to the intended destination content.
Expected result
A new independent draft is created. The source ticker is not overwritten. Component instance IDs are regenerated.
Troubleshooting and limits
Use a full ticker JSON export, not Export preset JSON. Cross-site numeric IDs are cleared because the same number may refer to unrelated content. The importer does not transfer posts, media files, plugins, or credentials. Review retained URLs separately; media-ID clearing does not guarantee removal of all remote image URLs. Pro data does not make Pro features available without compatible Pro.
